Hello! I'm Anna. I live mainly in London, and I also spend time in the Wiltshire countryside, where I grew up.
Baking was the foundation of my upbringing, quite literally: I grew up in a house built on the site of our village bakery and I was taught to bake by my mum, a food technology teacher. I enjoy putting a spin on traditional recipes and making the most of seasonal produce.
I've organised my recipes here by month: I like to bake as seasonably as possible, to celebrate ingredients and occasions. Hopefully this will provide some focused inspiration, though there's lots of recipes that will be enjoyed at any time of year.

Seasonality, zero waste, and closing the loop are important principles for me, reflected in the organisation and interconnectedness of my recipes. I always try to provide suggestions for using up surplus ingredients. Foraging and foodie gardening became my lockdown hobbies, the inspiration behind several recipes. I also sometimes take my ideas from literature, which I occasionally write about here.
You may notice that the only nuts that feature in my recipes are almonds and, those, only occasionally. This is because I'm allergic to all other nuts. I hope this website provides baking ideas for fellow nut-allergy sufferers. Having a nut allergy definitely shouldn't mean missing out! (Obviously some ingredients are made in environments that handle nuts, so please read the labels carefully).
Please follow my baking journey on Instagram, get in touch, and tag me in your own bakes, at @annaharribakes - I look forward to hearing from you!
Happy, hopeful baking!
